LPA Software User Manual

Updated 02 Sept 2020

Introduction

This short document aims to explain how to use the LPA NKC software with specific regard to the functions involved in selecting the print queue and the relative printer.

Status Tab

First of all, let us look at the first of the two tabs contained in this software: the Status Tab, which is empty in this example, shows to the user the current print queues and the paired printers, just like ordinary printing software.

Here the user can Start and Stop the printing spooler system by clicking on the command on the upper part of the screen. The current status (Stopped or Running) is displayed on the bottom part of the screen, along with the Uptime timer.

Setup Tab

The Setup Tab allows displaying the current list of available Print Queues on the left side of the screen; there is possible to select a specific Print Queue from the list for assign a target printer. The “update Print Queue” command allows for a refresh (from server) in the print queue list.

When selecting a specific queue from the list it will appear another box on the right of the screen, containing the printers list. Now the user can “save Queue+Printer” in order to use that printer: in this way, that specific print queue is linked to the selected printer, so that all print requests will be sent to this specific printer.

Now the print queue is paired with the desired printer and this pairing will be in memory until changed, again from the Setup Tab.

Now that we have our desired Print Queue saved with the selected Printer, we can go back to the Status Tab, which now will show the saved combination of Queue and Printer.

Here the user can find any kind of information regarding the printing process such as the start time, the total uptime time, the queue name and the working printer.

Minimize the app to tray

This LPA software is designed to minimize to tray instead of terminating it when pushing the Close or Minimize buttons. This allows for maintaining the software running also in case of unadvertised or undesidered close actions. This program allows the user to open multiple instances of the software in order to create differents print queues simultaneously (if speed of printing could become a issue); in this case is advised to create a FULL COPY of the software because the setup is saved on each copy of it.

Note: this means that two copies of the software could be run at the same moment, and if they are configured with the same print queue managed, there will be a side effect of double copies of printing.
